Vodka

Water is the giver of life and so that must mean Vodka, whose name originates from the Russian word “Voda”, meaning water, is essential.  Vodkas origins remain in Russia where the most popular source of which was wheat; though some may argue Poland is where Vodka got its start, renowned for its cold weather Russia turned to Vodka for its amazing ability to warm  a person. Though Vodkas are numerous, they can usually be classed together by origin or even source. Russian vodkas are characterized by being few, but of great quality, these tend to be not quite as sweet as other vodkas. Polish vodkas have more of a taste and texture and  their flavored vodka, which was taken up as a trend recently actually an aged custom in Poland.  Vodkas of the west tend to remain highly filtered, crisp and with less of a flavor than the polish or Russian vodkas. Vodka can be created using almost anything that is fermentable and edible like potatoes, grain, rye, wheat, corn or sugar beet molasses.  When vodka is fermented and distilled it is very high in proof and must be diluted with water, the more that the spirit is distilled the higher the content of alcohol that is why many Vodka producing companies tend to highlight the type of water they use in the creation of their vodka, as it can be a defining feature.

Vodka is the world’s most popularly consumed liquor, in the words of Ron White “I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade… And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party” so come down to Scarlet, we have every type of Vodka you could dream of.
